FA Cup was my favourite tournament when I was young(er). Every club players dream was to play under the twin towers at Wembley, and every fans dream was to be there watching them.

It doesn't hold the same charm now. Maybe cos I'm older it doesn't feel the same, or more likely, it's been devalued.

Forest v Arsenal would have been a great cup tie back in the day. Forest v Arsenal kids doesn't have the same ring.

I remember when we beat them at Highbury and Brian Rice ran through and lobbed it over the keeper (2-1 and maybe Wilkinson with the other?)

I was in the clock end with me mates and it was a great day although I had to cheer inside for fear of death 😂

I was there and Forest had the clock end, as did all away fans for every Arsenal game. Why did you fear anything? 👀

I was there and I don't recall any fighting in the ground. If I'm right, might not be, there was a no mans land, we were well away from Arsenal fans.

edit. Just got to the PC at work & it shows the gap between us & Arsenal.

I said I was in the clock end with my Arsenal mates so couldnt cheer and you said Forest had the whole clock end so why was I afraid to cheer. Quite a few times fans broke through the gaps in the fence and it went off in the middle. You can see how may plod are round the lower door when Rice scores. And you dont really want to be in the Arsenal bit and cheer as we went 2 up or you are getting done - simple as.

I actually saw who I assume to be Scarrot in there a couple of years later as he started fighting and when the police nabbed him he showed them the forest tattoo on the inside of his lip (unless others had that as well)

Oh, Its where you said ''I was in the clock end with me mates ''

Where I got confused as you never said you were with Arsenal

And you said Forest had the whole clock end

:laughingsmiley:  I didn't I said ''Forest had the clock end''. I didn't make it clear.

For the record I wasn't near enough to see any rowing, although it went off outside all the way up that hill to the tube station.

I was only about 14 or 15 at the time so we just used to follow behind the chaps and watch. I had mates who liked West Ham and Arsenal so we used to go to both depending on the match and there were some quality fights over the years. Around Highbury and Upton Park back streets were every bit as dangerous as the back streets of the den. I went there a few times as well as an away fan with West Ham and Forest and a home fan against a few teams when they got in the old first division. Nasty ol place that

Interesting that a thread on a forum called "the beautiful game" has degenerated into something off "The Real Football Factories"

ER's accounts of incidents in the away end and back streets sound "pwopah, pwopah nawtey........"

This will be nothing else except a win for Arsenal reserves. Even if Warburton put out our strongest XI we'd stand no chance so just play our reserves too, don't risk injury to our first teamers in this guaranteed defeat.
