The politics thread

Let's get it going.

What's your thoughts on recent summer budget. I thought was okay, love the 2 child benefits cap which will dig into those money grabbing pram pushers. Again not enough for my liking but better than anything labour could muster up.

Wouldn't surprise me. Although I reckon it might be a bit short sighted. Folk aren't sitting on wads of cash so you take it from them in this way and it wont be going into businesses in the form of consumer spending.

Be interesting to see who its for. Will any interest rates get passed on to savers or investors or will the banks simply trouser the takings and leave the saver at the low end? Too much of that sort of thing going on in business generally. rather than genuinely growing, they're fucking around with accounting games and stiffing the customer and dressing it up as efficiency and shareholder value. Bone idle bastards need to get out there and grow it.

How will you feel about getting taxed more & overspending?

You bought a house yet?

Have a read of this & tell me Labour is good. http://blogs.spectator.co.uk/coffeehouse/2015/04/the-truth-about-labour-and-overspending/

I don't mind Cooper as it goes.

I'm afraid the Spectator blog is economically suspect - most would recognise that the increase in public spending as a percentage of GDP rose steeply as a direct result of the banking crash, it was the symptom, not the cause thereof. Historically, levels of public spending in the Blair-Brown years were still below many of the Thatcher years as a percentage! Note - I am in no way a fan of the 97-2010 Labour administration as it was way too timid and wedded to neo-liberal economic illiteracy - read Stiglitz for an education..

For an alternative perspective: http://www.theguardian.com/business/2015/may/03/senior-tory-financial-crash-was-purely-a-banking-crisis-not-labour-overspend

Socialism has never worked anywhere in the world and never will. Labour messed up the last time they picked a leader and they are going to again now. It's between Burnham and Cooper for me, maybe Cooper just edging it as long as she stops all the feminism crap and just focuses on her job. Corbyn would be terrible and is only going to win becuase thousands of left wing students with no life experience have signed up to cast a vote.

Does out and out capitalism work? Wasn't long ago it all went tits up and the banks had to be bailed out by the taxpayers....

Corbyn for me. I don't know what Burnham and Cooper are about to be honest, they've got their blurb like every other politician but as soon as they're under questioning they're shifty as fuck. As far as I can tell Kendall is just a Tory.

Socialism isn't what's on offer from anyone though, just a society that isn't as rigged, there's a difference.

I haven't seen oat from Corbyn yet that's too far left, just because the other snidey cunts have shit their pants and are chucking any slur they can at him doesn't make what they're saying true. On anything else, would you trust anything the likes of Blair and Mandelson have to say? I'd do the opposite of anything they told me.

Corbyn for me too. I don't agree with absolutely everything he's said but he's the only one I trust is telling the truth. Kendall can fuck right off.

It's nice to see his wife supporting Mexican workers........ All for one and one for all, until it suits their pockets.....

Just like the rest, doesn't give a flying fuck and it's all sound bite bullshit. Let him lead labour, he won't get enough votes to achieve anything

I was talking to me Dad about this earlier - not the Daily Mail article (I'd have to read more about that knowing what a bastion of morals they are), the won't get enough votes thing.

Me Dad was saying the trouble with Corbyn is if you say what he's saying the corrupt bastards that run the country would never let him get in. He might be right in most things he's said but if those that hold all the power are going to make a a tenner less than their billion a year they'll not have it.

The point is, you should tell a pack of lies like the Tories do - cause most people are fucking idiots and will believe oat hence why they vote Tory - and then do what you want when you get in - like the Tories do.

I think this election's come a bit early as Corbyn is ok but he's 66 and a few of his ideas are unworkable and all of the others are twats. I like Tom Watson though, hopefully he'll get in and be in pole position when Corbyn hands over.

.

Not certain that they would need to do that. Corruption takes an element of cleverness. Those at the very top know how to hedge their bets. They've probably worked out a way to make just as much bunce as ever. Added to which if Corbyn renders Labour unelectable that leaves you with a constant Tory majority. They can probably make a few quid out of that too.

Not saying that Corbyn is the man for a Labour win, but it is clear to me that Britain needs a credible left wing voice.

What makes me laugh is Cooper Burnham etc are saying that Corbyn is unelectable with his ideas yet they with their ideas have just lost two elections . Coopers husband even lost his seat. Yet When the tory loving BBC was interviewing her no one pointed it out to her.

I got my ballot this morning.

I went for Burnham as my first preference and put Cooper down as my 2nd. Went for Watson for deputy with Stella Creasy my 2nd preference. Didn't bother with the others.

What swayed you ?. How he ducked and dived in the Staffordshire hospital scandal or the way he Rented his own place out near Whitehall for 17 grand a year and rented another one for himself paid for by the tax payer.

Whatever you do don't go and complain about anything at one of his surgeries . He will call the coppers to you .

What makes me piss is this **** is a front runner, and upholding the same policies that have lost Labour the last two elections . Folk want a difference from Conservatives not a lighter shade of Blue .

We're a party of Government, not a protest party like Greens or UKIP. Corbyns politics can't win and he's got some very dodgy mates with opinions about Jews and the holocaust.

I'd be happy with Andy or Yvette. They can beat that slimy Eton queer Cameron.

He is stepping down cocker after winning this majority

Imo he is the best PM since Maggie by a mile and has made a difference to Britain and kick started the economy. As opposed to Blair and Brown who just borrowed more and more and had the country in recession. Also up to their necks in Europe and still wanted to go deeper

Most people sleep better at night knowing Cameron is looking after the country iom
