Surprised if EM feels like backing MON as the lad he spent £13m on never played under him. Unless it's to bring in a load of Irish like McClean...

Some keepers have made a career out of it. Like Stuart Taylor...made 75 appearances in 20 years! In fact our very own Pantillimon has a pretty alarmingly low number of career first team appearances to say he's 32. If you look at his career it's only here and his very first club in Romania that he's been first choice.

Too expensive for me. For starters 35k a week in the championship is ludicrous but if that is the case nowadays then at this level for 35k a week I'm wanting a proper stand out player. Someone like Neves or Knockaert. Not Colback who O'Neill when he does decide to play him can't decide where. Besides we need to offload about £100k a week from the squad before we even think about signings.

    Forest 2019/20 thread

Just had a quick look at contract expiry dates...apparently this summer we're letting go of Fuentes, Pele, Bonatini, Janko and a few other loans. I'd forgotten Fuentes and Bonatini were even here. Standard forest. Because of the insane contracts we generously hand out we have to wait another year until Murphy, Watson, Bridcutt et al get sent to the glue factory

    Forest 2019/20 thread

We have an awful lot of shit in our squad. At least 12 of those names need to somehow be shipped out before we even think about new signings. I'd swap all 12 for 2 players of proper quality down the spine of the side.

    Transfers wanted 2019/20

Sounds like a proper Forest signing to me. A great signing for me would be Chris Hughton now he's left Brighton.

    NFFC Rumours

And so it begins... Until the season we're going to be linked with all these nobodies. Probably signing half of them. A squad size of less than 45 and we can kiss goodbye to promotion next year. We could do with at least 4 senior players for each position. Preferably all on big money as that must mean they're good. I'd be particularly interested in any players that have suffered career-threatening injuries recently.

    MON

On Facebook the official NFFC feed has wished Liam Bridcutt a happy birthday. I'd forgotten he was still here....yet another example of the numbers here that need shipping out.

    MON

If we use educated guesses I'd say its about half and half. Half the signings are either 'suggested' or just plain signed without the managers say so (Ansarifard, Carvalho, Dias etc) whilst others seem to involve the manager's input more like Yacob, Byram, Grabban.

    MON

Apart from Lolley and Carvalho I'd not be disappointed to see anyone go. The reasons I'd not trust MON in the market are because he's been out of club football for so long and out of second tier football for even longer. I look at the way Norwich have done it...brought in good foreign players at a fraction of the cost of domestic based ones and have huge doubts MON would even consider that market nevermind choose wisely from it. I mean he used the old line of the winter weather as a genuine reason for not picking Carvalho for about 15 consecutive games for fucks sake.

    MON

Can't wait for next season to see the raft of bang average shite we bring in and to see how MON struggles to get them to string 3 passes together before inevitably getting sacked before we start the process all over again...

    Karanka out

I wasn't around then but I'd imagine surely that even though results weren't amazing there were signs that we were heading in the right direction? Style of play improvement, focus on playing young players and shipping out deadwood etc. The fact he'd turned the sheep into league champions from second tier nobodies would also give him loads more time. For every Clough though there are 50 managers who are shit in the first 6 months and just stay shit. We have a habit of choosing awful managers, with no plan or long term thinking involved and often no real credentials for the job. Going all the way back to the turn of the century...there have been 17 permanent managers in 19 years (18 if you count Davies twice). That's shocking and only one of them is currently in work as a manager (Montanier). There's a bloody good reason nobody else will touch them yet we always seem to...

    Karanka out

I agree with that. It is mad and will never yield long term success. I think generally a year though is ample time to see whether someone has it or not. Often you can tell much earlier than that as well. Inconsistent team selection and tactics. Weird signings. Clear lack of motivation etc

    Karanka out

Karanka will probably be seen as the second coming now the majority of fans like Billy Davies was as what came after both was so bad. Their successors' shocking management puts them on a pedestal they don't really deserve. Why oh why can we never manage to choose a decent gaffer? You see some clubs just happen to stumble upon the right man....maybe we used all our luck up with Clough.

    Nottingham Forest vs Middlesbrough

O'Neill is such a dinosaur that I'm starting to think he subscribes to the old stereotype of silky foreign lads not liking the cold. Which is why we haven't seen much of Carvalho until the weekend. Either way there is absolutely no way we'll ever succeed with him in charge. The club needs to build a foundation on which to produce a team that has an identity. One that can sustain itself as a top flight club if we were to go up. If he stays we'll end up having yet another mass clear out and start bringing in James McClean et al from the Ireland squad. Then start all over again. We need a young manager who has a track record of playing and developing young players playing good football.

    Forest v Swansea

Can't believe play offs are still being mentioned by anyone now. Forget what our position is...fluking a win every 3 games when other teams are winning more and with games in hand just makes it nigh on impossible. 3 of the spots are taken now so you have arguably every team down to Hull still in it so our form would have to suddenly become that of an automatic promotion chaser to beat the rest to that final spot. We're just not playing well enough for that. It's a shame too as I feel our squad is as good as the rest it's just been managed poorly...again. See you in August folks...

    Will we go up

To get promoted generally you need to be able to win back to back games. So no.

  25. Wonder if a couple of foreign goals will be enough for Brexit O'Neill to think twice about his team next week.
